NCAA HOCKEY RULE CHANGE

Published:

The landscape of hockey is changing quickly in Canada after the NCAA voted to allow CHL players to attend Division 1 Colleges in the US. The rule change came into effect just over a week ago and already we’ve seen a number of players move from Junior A like the BCHL to the Western Hockey League, QMJHL and OHL.

In this video, Advancement Hockey Advisors break down the rule and give their thoughts on how hockey players could me on the move in the future and what effect it willk have on other junior hockey leagues in Canada and the US.

It’s really hard to say what will happen with player recruiting over the next little while but we can say this – the CHL is also going to go thru some growing pains as players make the jump to the NCAA instead of staying until they’re 20. There are 1,700 NCAA hockey players in the system so not all of them can be playing in the WHL. Lots of scholarship players will be playing in the BCHL and USHL.
